Adopting a new pet is a big responsibility and should not be taken lightly. You should plan on caring for the new family member for 10-18 years. It can be costly to raise a pet. Some of the considerations are food, heartworm meds, flea preventative, shots, annual health care checkup, accidents, illnesses, etc. You should plan for your pet in your monthly budget. Additional questions to ask are: Am I ready to spend time with a pet every single day? Am I up to walking my pet? Cleaning up the muddy paw prints, potty accidents on the carpet, and other messes made in the house and yard? Am I up to facing possible destruction of shoes, furniture or other household items? Do I have the patience needed to train a dog? Can I really afford it if my dog gets sick or eats something he/she shouldn't? These are all very valid things to take into consideration before adopting a new pet.

Now for the good stuff! Do you have room in your life for a new best friend? One who will give you unconditional love? Your new friend will be there waiting for you when you get home, lovingly greeting you with tail wags and kisses. Dogs have their own personalities, likes and dislikes. But above all, they love their people no matter what. Sometimes they will do tricks and sometimes they are just plain cute no matter what they are doing. But you will no doubt feel the love. It's amazing!  And you'll experience the joy. Some people are concerned about little things like 'shedding' but don't let that stop you from adopting one of these wonderful, amazing creatures!! I tell people to use a lint roller and a vacuum! I think it's sad to not experience the loving relationship with a pet over something silly like that.  Finally it's been shown that pets lower blood pressure and stress and that makes them good for your health!   It makes me wonder how anyone can do without a pet.   Nevertheless, it's a great undertaking for which you must be prepared.

This is Bella, a 2 yr old Terrier.  The name says it all.  She is a great gal!  She's very friendly and loves being with people.  She weighs 22 lbs.

SURPRISE SURPRISE!!!  Sweetie Bella won't be going anywhere for awhile.  She just gave birth to 5 adorable puppies!!!  We had no idea she was expecting.  She did such a great job giving birth and caring for them.  I video taped most of it.  What an awesome experience!  I just can't thank God enough for allowing me to experience this with her.  When the pups are weaned, she will be ready to move to her new home.

UPDATE!!! Bella's puppies have all been placed in loving homes.  I miss them so much.  It was surely a blessing watching them come into this world and grow day by day.

This is Timmy. He's a German Shepard and Border Collie mix but he's quite small at just 20lbs.  We are guessing that he's less than a year old. This guy was in a high kill shelter and scared to death.  The first picture I saw of him in that shelter he looked so pitiful that it stole my heart and I knew we had to get him out ASAP.  Timmy is here in the rescue now and doing much better.  He loves being around people and he gets along very well with the other dogs. He's energetic and likes to play.  It's so fun to watch  him run circles around the back yard!  He's crate trained and we're working on housebreaking. We've also been working on basic training commands. He is very smart! But that is why they use German Shephards in police work. He will be best suited to an owner who will commit to continued training with love and patience. I have no doubt that he will be a great companion and fun playmate.
Applications are now being accepted to adopt this wonderful guy.

If you are interested in adopting Timmy, please call or email for an application. References are required. His adoption fee is $250 and includes neutering, all shots, Bordatella, grooming, heart worm negative test, vet check, and some training.

Baby Spuds McKenzie finally out of the hospital!

Spuds McKenzie is a young baby of about 5 months who was rescued from a high kill shelter where he was to be put to sleep.  He's a Jack Russell Terrier mix.  Little Spudsy has had a rough start in life.  He spent 12 days in the hospital being treated for Parvo and severe intestinal worms.  He's doing so well that he went from 4 lbs to 16 lbs in just 3 weeks!!  Now he's ready for his fur-ever home.  Spuds has quite a personality.  He's energetic and playful but he tries to be dominant and territorial where the other dogs are concerned.  Most of them don't let him get away with it though :).  This is a common trait of the breed.  He's doing better but would probably do well in a home without any aggressive pets and preferably someone with Jack Russell Terrier experience.  He likes to be held and treats humans great.

Applications are being accepted for Spuds' adoption.  References will be required and preference will be given to those with experience. Please email for an application.  His adoption fee is $250 and will include his neutering, age appropriate shots, grooming, heart worm negative test and 2 months of heart worm preventative.  He is just adorable and deserves a happy, healthy life.

Donations for his high medical care are still being accepted at this link:

This is Zoey. She is a Chihuahua Dachshund Mix, affectionately called a 'chi-weenie'. She is a good little girl. She is very scared at first but once she gets to know her surroundings and humans, she is happy and friendly. Poor Zoe was heartworm positive.  But she has received her treatment and is recouperating nicely.  She will be ready for her new home in March after her next check-up.  Zoey is about 2 years old.  She is now current on shots, micro-chipped, and vet-checked.  If you are interested in Zoey, please email for an application.

This is Marni.  She's an Aussie mix who is less than a year old.  She weighs about 25lbs.  This is one sweet girl!  She spent the last several weeks in a high kill shelter out of state.  She is now here in the rescue and is being treated for possible distemper.  Poor baby is showing several of the signs and we are carefully nursing her back to health.  This is one smart little dog who is an absolute joy to be with and she is so happy to be rescued! She likes to wrap her two front paws around me and doesn't want to let go.  It's so endearing! I have really been enjoying caring for her and watching her get better day by day.

When she's better she'll be ready for her new home.  She will be spayed, current on shots and Bordatella, heartworm negative and provided all needed medical care.  Her adoption fee is $250.  References will be required for adoption.  Just email for an adoption application.

UPDATE!!  Marni is doing very well!!  She's showing NO signs of illness now.  She has just been spayed and is ready to find her new fur-ever home.  I am so happy for her and excited that she is alive and well!  Now she deserves to find someone to love her for the rest of her life.
