This is Adrian, now known as Jo Jo. She and her puppies were saved by a wonderful girl who rescued them from bad home where they were freezing outside in the dead of winter. She was heartworm positive and underwent treatment after she arrived here in the rescue. The vet said she was one of the worst cases he's ever treated. It took awhile and a lot of worry but she eventually got better and was adopted to a good family who also took two of her pups!! What a happy ending for Adrian and her babies. I will never forget her. She was so sweet! And terribly afraid of thunder storms. She would jump in my lap and bury her head when she heard thunder. I didn't mind a bit! I loved being with her and babying her. And the pups were WONDERFUL! They barely had their eyes open when they arrived. We had to drive several hours out of state to get them and when we arrived, I opened the car door where the pups were and Rex barked at me! Turns out it was his FIRST bark! And absolutely adorable. I snatched him up and loved all over him and smothered him with kisses!! I always thought he looked like a miniature Beethoven! Miss Mattie was so cute! She had a heart on her left side as you can see from the pic. She was such a darling little girl and she kept up with her brothers! She gave as good as she got when playing with them. And oh, little Boone, aka Boo Boo. He had such a great personality. He liked to explore and get into things especially if it involved something he could eat. He was energetic and loved to play but then he'd come and sit in my lap where he'd just melt like a little baby! He loved to be loved on and I really enjoyed babying him! They were all adopted into good homes and I can't wait to see them again!!! I will post new updated pics and stories of them soon.

Before After (Doesn't she look like she's smiling?)
This is Miss Maggie. She came in with Sandy and Sheena from out of state. She was in a puppy mill situation where she was forced to repeatedly breed while living in a dirty cage. She was then dumped off in a high kill shelter. Clearly she wasn't properly cared for. She was filthy and matted. Fortunately she did not have any serious illnesses. She just need cleaned up and provided love. She's now in a happy home where she's being spoiled! And she definitely deserves it. She's such a sweet, loving and happy little girl now!

Before After
Sheena is a 1 to 2 yr old Cockapoo that was saved from the same place. You can see from the before picture that she was not cared for either. I fell in LOVE with her. She's so cute! When she wags her little nub of a tail, her whole body wiggles.
She liked to play and then lounge in my lap. Her favorite game is 'fetch'. When she arrived she had a very serious urinary tract infection that scared me when I saw blood. But she received needed medical treatment and is doing fine now. Just looking at her makes me smile every time. She was adopted by a wonderul woman who took her AND Sandy! So they will live out the rest of their lives together being spoiled!

Before After
This is Sandy, now known as Sophie. She is a beautiful and very sweet girl. It's amazing that she's so well adjusted and loving after all she's been through. She didn't have any major medical issues. I remember seeing sadness in her eyes and I wanted to do all I could to make her happy. I believe she is now. She was adopted by a wonderful woman who also adopted Sheena. Now they spend their days getting spoiled, playing together and enjoying their new mommy.

UPDATE!!

"Sophie has multi-colored tight curls. Sheena has white silky hair with just a little wave to it and a little blond on her back. They continue to do better and better all the time. They've both made friends with the cat. Both like walking around the neighborhood although Sophie continues to be somewhat fearful of the traffic and people - Sheena is little miss friendly and outgoing. Sophie is now perfect in her house training. Sheena gets too involved in the interesting smells and sights in the yard to remember what her purpose is all the time......They both like their various toys – and of course always want to both play with the same one at the same time. They have two rope toys, but both seem to favor one that is now so raveled and pulled from both ends that it looks like dead squid. I love waking up in the middle of a night and trying to guess which little bundle is snuggled up with me. They are darling girls! " - From Sharon, their new mom

Many people were involved in saving these dogs. And I want to thank every one of them. Because of all the work you did in each part that you played, these dogs were saved, treated and provided wonderful homes! There were several dogs saved and some were sent to different rescues here in Indiana. There was a local pilot who offered to fly down to get them but the weather was too bad so he drove all the way to NC and picked them up! It was such an exciting endeavor. I couldn't wait to get them here!!! I wish I could have taken more of them but we were just full. Thankfully, they were rescued and treated for all their medical problems.

There was this funny sound coming from the kitchen that sounded like a little mouse. But it was Whitley in the food container!! Yes, he found a way to pry off the lid and climb right in. Let me tell you, he was in no hurry to come out either. :)
This is sweet Whitley, now known as Milo. He was rescued from a high kill shelter where he had been abandoned by his owner and was about to be put to sleep. He is a Chihuahua mix. He was adopted by an absolutely terrific family that has done a lot for this rescue. They have three beautiful little girls and Milo takes turns sleeping in their beds. He is such a lap dog and loves being close to people. He has a sweet temperament and is very cuddly! I'm looking forward to seeing him and his new family often!
This is Bentley. He's a 3 yr old Cocker Spaniel. He was brought to the rescue because his family is moving to another country. He's a terrific fellow who is energetic and friendly. Even though he's very friendly, he wants to let other animals know he's in charge. But he's just darling and he even knows how to shake hands! He has been adopted by a terrific woman who just adores him. He gets lots of attention and walks. I think he has a new best friend :)

Teddy is a young Chihuahua mix. He came in with his housemate, Lilly. This guy is so cute! He could stand straight up! He reminded me of a meerkat when he did that. He is very sweet and friendly. But he is also skittish until he realizes he’s not going to be hurt. He really likes to be near his humans and loved to sit in my lap and get lots of petting. He has been adopted by a very sweet young lady who is spoiling him and giving him all the love he deserves!

This is an updated picture of Lilly from her new family. Just look at that darling little face. And it looks like she's definately keeping warm! She is doing well in her new home and has another doggie to play with.
